STATE-OF-THE-ART PHOTOFACIAL SKIN TREATMENT at Expert Aesthetics
A photofacial is a noninvasive, no-downtime procedure to correct virtually any superficial blemish. Rosacea, sun damage, freckles, age spots and acne are no match for this rejuvenating treatment. By using erosive light, a photofacial addresses damaged skin tissue or hyperpigmentation without harming healthy cells, allowing patients to resume their daily activities immediately. At Expert Aesthetics, we are proud to offer photofacial.
If you are looking for a refreshed appearance and healthy skin with no downtime, a photofacial may be the perfect option.
Photofacial overview and benefits :
A photofacial is also called intense pulsed light (IPL). This is different from a laser, which only uses one wavelength of light. Instead, a photofacial uses what’s called broad-spectrum light, which reaches multiple layers of skin. It is applied with brief flashes, sometimes up to 2 or 3 on a single treatment area.
When the light flashes, it warms the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, as well as collagen growth underneath the skin. These two factors allow photo facials to address both the outermost surface of the skin as well as the tissues beneath it. This multi-faceted approach makes your skin look younger, smoother and more voluminous.
At Expert Aesthetics, we use Photofacials to effectively treat:
- Sun-damaged skin
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Enlarged pores
- Rosacea
- Liver spots
- Hyperpigmentation
- Enlarged blood vessels

As with any procedure performed at Expert Aesthetics, a photofacial begins with a thorough consultation. During this time, your doctor reviews every aspect of your goals and performs an examination to sort out which treatment options will best suit your needs. It is an important part of our practice philosophy that we only deliver procedures that we truly feel will help a patient. Your initial consultation and examination help us get a total understanding of your unique case, allowing us to guide you through the proper cosmetic treatment.
Before treatment begins, your practitioner will apply a cooling gel to the surface of your face. This is to both protect your healthy skin cells and provide you with total comfort throughout the procedure. Photofacials are usually done without anesthetic, but patients with sensitive skin may prefer a mild sedative to help with any pain. This aspect of your treatment will be discussed beforehand.
Now the IPL laser treatment begins. Using a specialized handpiece, your practitioner gently delivers the IPL to the appropriate treatment area. The light serves to treat superficial blemishes while also heating the underlying collagen layer, causing it to expand. With each pulse of light, your skin gets a jolt of beautifying energy, helping it to look and feel its best.
IPL can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.
